Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Wine Tasting Session 1 is happening on Tuesday 25th June, from 1 pm to 2 pm – a maximum of 40 attendees so sign up fast!

Registration is essential. The tasting sessions are $40.25 incl GST per person, per session. 

The Marlborough wine region is known world over for its Sauvignon Blanc. This first session of two special advanced Wine Assessment Sessions is designed for participants with an interest in the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc phenomenon. Marlborough has just reached the 50th anniversary of the first commercial plantings of grapevines and a major part of the region's rapid rise to international recognition has been the magic combination of Marlborough’s terroir and Sauvignon Blanc as a grape variety.

Come to this session to learn about the success factors and to understand if all Sauvignon Blanc is in fact the same or sub-regional variation occurs and how that is used by winemakers and wine marketers.

You will be hosted by two winemakers and taste 6 examples of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to demonstrate the above. If you are a supplier to the industry or visitor to WinePRO you will learn about how the flavours develop, how and why they are retained, and the decision points winemakers use to determine what wine style a certain parcel of fruit is used for from the vineyard and in the winery.

You are in the Marlborough region, and a formal tasting of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a must-do.

NoLo - How the no and low wine category is developing in importance

Wine Tasting Session 2 is happening on Wednesday 26th June, from 1 pm to 2 pm – a maximum of 40 attendees so sign up fast!

Registration is essential. The tasting sessions are $40.25 incl GST per person, per session. 

As there is an increasing awareness and focus on healthy lifestyles, the consumption, volume and frequency of alcohol is changing. This has created a statistically relevant category of the beverage market, the NoLo category.

While wine has always been available with lower alcohol options, off the back of a major research project in New Zealand, the Lighter Wines Project, there was an emergence of new brands in the category. The category is flourishing, with options at the mid-strength level of sub-9 per cent and brands below that including a number at zero per cent alcohol.

Come to this tasting to see what the production methods are like for these wines and learn from winemakers in this hands-on tasting. You will learn how the grapes are grown here in Marlborough to make wines targeting lower alcohol levels and what production steps are different or the same as for other wines in these winemakers’ portfolios and hear their thoughts on just how important this category will be in the future.

You will taste 6 examples and have experts to inform you about their winemaking and viticultural decisions.

• Only registered WinePro 2024 visitors who are badge holders, visitors who register on the day and exhibitor badge holders will be able to enter WinePro 2024. If requested, a visitor must provide ID onsite or may be subject to refusal of entry or removal from the Fair. • Visitors who register prior to WinePro 2024 or onsite at the event may be asked for proof of trade status or business eligibility. Relevant proof could include trade association membership, business card showing name of visitor, copies of a supplier invoice, exhibitor referral, a pay slip or other means. • WinePro 2024 is strictly for members of the wine industry, TRADE ONLY. If you are found not to be from the trade you will be refused registration and will be asked to leave the venue immediately. • Visitors to WinePro 2024 are required to consent to having their bags searched by security personnel at the request of event staff. • Official WinePro 2024 photographers will be taking photographs and filming videos at WinePro 2024. Anyone attending WinePro 2024 consents to such photography and filming without compensation and confirms that the Organisers shall be entitled to use such photographs and videos, which may include photographs and videos of visitors, for the purpose of marketing WinePro 2024 in future, for exploitation in any and all media, without liability. No other photography or filming will be permitted at WinePro 2024 without the prior written approval of the Organisers. • Badge holders must not allow their badges to be worn by anyone else. Any failure will lead to the badge holder and the person wearing the badge being removed from WinePro 2024. • Anyone attending WinePro 2024 should carry some form of photo-ID (passport, photo-ID driving licence, national identity card) or other identification acceptable to the Organisers. Admission to the Fair may be subject to a random bag search and ID check. • Anyone obtaining a WinePro 2024 visitor or exhibitor badge by theft, deception or other illegal means will be asked to leave WinePro 2024. • Children under the age of 16 who attend WinePro 2024 will be required by the Organisers to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Visitors with children will be responsible for their children and will be asked to put their mobile number on a wristband to be worn by the child. Children found to be causing a nuisance, separated from their parent or guardian or resulting in complaint from other attendees, will be asked to leave WinePro 2024 and the venue. • Anyone attending WinePro 2024 must not take part in any canvassing, leafleting, demonstrations, objectionable behaviour or any activity which may disrupt WinePro 2024. Any of the aforementioned activities will result in removal and banning from future attendance. • Press badges at WinePro 2024 are restricted to Editors, Sub Editors, Editorial Assistants, Editorial Researchers, Publishers, Journalists, Broadcasters, Web Bloggers and Photographers associated with the wine industry. Members of the press may be required to complete an application form and produce accreditation in the form of a photocopy of a recognised press or media card, business card, a letter from the editor or an official web address linking to a press release in order to verify their position. • The Organisers reserve the right to exclude or remove anyone from WinePro 2024 who does not comply with this policy or who they reasonably consider is likely to break these rules or who is prohibited from attending under any applicable sanctions, laws or regulations, or otherwise at the Organisers’ discretion. • CCTV is in operation at WinePro 2024. Images will be recorded for prevention of crime and public safety and may be shared with the police. Crowd Notice/ Release Please be aware that by entering WinePro 2024, you consent to your voice and likeness being used without compensation in programmes, films and tapes for exploitation in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised, and you release Reed Exhibitions, it's successors, assigns and licensees from any liability, on account of such usage. If you do not wish to be the subject to the foregoing, do not enter WinePro 2024.
